Today’s storm in Skyros

January 12 2026.

Today, following 24 hours of extreme weather (which is still ongoing at 18:30hrs) including light snow and torrential rain, the Acheroundes tributaries are feeding the central “ACHERON” River. This is located in Southern Skyros, next to the Port of Linaria. Today, this river received a larger volume of stormwater (please see photos) than the better known Kifisos River, which runs alongside and below the town and empties into Magazia, close to the Juicy Bar.

Flood control works to the Acherounes River in the neighbourhood of Pegasus Studios and Apanema Beach Bar Restaurant continue.
